Recently, there have been some more exciting tech advancement opportunities/developments:
The White House recently named Oakland a "TechHire" city. According to a recent feature on ABC7 News, "TechHire is a program that helps unemployed workers and residents with skills that need updating get their foot in the door of companies like Facebook, eBay and Cisco... there are now 31 TechHire cities nationally."
Additionally,
Oakland's Kapor's "will spend $40 million over the next three years to help make
Silicon Valley more diverse and inclusive, giving specifically to companies
with leaders from underrepresented communities," according to SFGate. (The Kapor Center is located in Downtown Oakland.)
Oakland is definitely continuing to be THE place to 'do tech' in the Bay Area.
